USE OF ROYAL PHOTOGRAPHS
New Rules Gazetted POSTCARD AND CALENDAR REPRODUCTIONS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 30. Ihe Queen has approved the revision °l * ules governing the use of Royal photographs on calendars and commercial articles. Under new rules gazetted tonight, Royal photographs may be sold as portraits and as postcards, and no objec- “<? n will be raised to their use on other articles, provided the article is not offensive to good taste, is of a permanent nature, and free from advertisement.
The photographs may also be used on calendars, including trade calendars, provided no advertisement is connected with the calendar.
Permission to use the’ photographs does not extend to an article which is used to assist the sale of any other article, or to articles of dress, household linen, furnishing materials, and adhesive seals or tapes. They may, however, be used on scarves and head squares. For the present, photographs of the Duke of Cornwall and Princess Anne may not be used other than as portraits on postcards or calendars. These rules do not affect the use of the Royal Arms, the Royal Cipher, the Royal Crown, the Royal Standard, and other Royal emblems. Permission to use these must still be sought through the Secretary of Internal Affairs.
