MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
SOUTH ISLAND TITLES DECIDED (New Zealand Press Association) OAMARU, June 30. Dropping one inner bull each in their two matches, three small bore rifle marksmen tied for the South Island championship when about 1600 shooters took part in the South Island Small Bore Rifle Association's championships at Oamaru over the week-end. Thev were J. Greenway (Dunedin Railway),' L. Wickens (Cashmere), and J. L. Southward (Cashmere), each with a score of 900.19. Greenway, shooting in the master grade, scored the possible of 100.10 in his first match and 100.9 in his seccnd. The other two shooters shot in the A grade. Southward scoring 100.10 in his first and Wickens 100.10 in his second. Possibles scored in individual matches grade: C. Thom (Heathcote), Greenway, J. M. Adam (Kelso), H. Smith (Pleasant Point), R. Weston (Cashmere), I. Harris (Hook). A grade: Southward. Wickens. B. Weston (Cashmere), N. Bennie (Cadbury Fry Hudson). ~ .... B grade: Miss N. Mcßae (Invercargill). The Cashmere team dropped 1.16 in the South Island championship teams’ match to win with a score of 998.84, while Dunedin Railway was 16 inner bulls behind with a score of 998.68.
