ASSISTANT WORKS COMMISSIONER
APPOINTMENT OF MR R. LANCASTER (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, June 29. Mr R. Lancaster, formerly resident engineer at Trentham, has been appointed assistant district commissioner of works in Christchurch, replacing Mr F. D. Grant, who is soon to take up the position of district commissioner of works at Dunedin. Mr Lancaster will probably take up his position in Christchurch in about three weeks. Mr Lancaster is a bachelor of engineering and for the last three years he has been resident engineer at Trentham. He has been in charge of the Wellington water supply scheme, and he has also supervised the deviation for the Rimutaka railway tunnel. Previously he was assistant engineer in the same district. He first joined the department in 1936.
