NO CURTAILMENT OF RAIL-CAR SERVICES
No curtailment of the rail-car service to the West Coast would be caused through the fire which destroyed a rail-car on the Midland line on Wednesday evening. This was reported by the District Mechanical Engineer (Mr W. Watt) yesterday. The rail-car was not beyond reiJair, he said, and in all probability would be rebuilt at the Addington workshops. After the lines at the point of the fire were checked for buckling the track was reported clear again at 2.25 a.m. Several goods trains had been held up pending an inspection of the lines.
