NERVE WAR ON TERRORISTS

KUALA LUMPUR, June 24. The biggest nerve war yet against the 4000 remaining terrorists in the Malayan jungles began today after the disclosure to the public of a peace letter from the Malayan Communist Party. A fleet of three Dakotas and two Austers used as “voice” aircraft circled over specific areas of the jungle and broadcast the story of the letter. The gist of the broadcast was: “Your leaders want to surrender. Thev have admitted defeat by their “Don’t risk your lives any longer in the jungle. Come out and surrender now.” In the next seven days. Royal Air Force aircraft will drop 20,000,000 leaflets on all terrorist hideouts. In towns, villages, and kampongs, Government information vans will spread word of the attempt by the Malayan Communist Party to regain their position in society. On the radio, Chinese programmes are being interrupted every half hour today with the announcement. A rubber planter said: “Planters believe that amnesties and peace talks with the Malayan Communist Party are wrong.”
