SAN FRANCISCO'C CIVIC CENTRE ,WHERE THE UNITED NATIONS ORGANISATION WAS BORN.—-The setting for the special meeting of the United Nations in San Francisco to mark the tenth anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Charter. Delegates from 50 nations met here between April 25 and June 26, 1945, when the Charter was signed. This view of San Francisco’s Civic Centre shows the Opera House (left), where most of the meetings of the 1945 conference were held, and in the background is the State House.
