ANNUAL WOOL CONFERENCE
Praise For Branding Fluid Research (N.Z. Press Association— Copyright) MUNICH, June 19. The Australian Wool Bureau was congratulated at the International Wool Textile Organisation’s annual conference yesterday for its work in developing a new wool branding fluid. The French delegate, Mr Jacques Segard, praised the bureau for its research after Mi T. G. Carter, chairman of the Australian Woolgrowers’ Council. reported *’ the introduction of the new fluid would nrobably end manufacturers’ complaints about indelible branding marks. The twenty-fourth annual conference adopted the West German resolution urging woolgrowers to improve packing methods to prevent fibres such as jute from the packing materials entering the wool and causing faults in the cloth. Mi F. S. Arthur, the New Zealand Wool Commission observer, said the woolgrower was not yet convinced that he would get more for wool if he spent more on packing material without fibre contamination. Mr Audre Peltzer, the Belgian president of the conference, said the wool market generally was healthy, and textile production was maintained at a satisfactory level. Profit margins had been lowered considerably to allow this. Wool had sold easily in primary markets. but the price dropped b^ r about a quarter in the last year, he said. About 400 delegates and observers from the chief wool producing and textile manufacturing countries attended the conference.
