SALVATION ARMY CONCERT
BAND MUSIC AND SINGING To raise funds for new instruments for the Sydenham Salvation Army Band, a concert of band music and singing was held by the Christchurch Citadel Band and singers of the Christchurch Citadel and the Sydenham Citadel, at the Civic Theatre on Saturday evening. There was an audience of between 600 and 700. Mr Ken Smith, conductor of the St Kilda Band, Dunedin, was a guest cornet soloist and conductor. Other soloists were Helen Spiro (soprano), of Dunedin, Revill Rice (baritone), of Dunedin, Tom Hill (trombone soloist), of Christchurch, and William Hawkey (organist), of Timaru. Conductors were Messrs E. Danholt, R. Gray and S. Tong.
