Christchurch, however, has a wonderful record in this race with 16 wins in the 21 races held, and it must always be rated highly. Olympic and Univeisity snould also be prominent. Because of a clash with a major cycling fixture, some alteration in the course has been necessary for the senior fixture. The start has been shifted from near the Halswell Hall, about 600 yards to the juncuon of Sparkes and Cashmere roads.
