WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
Hawarden.—-The May meeting of the Hawarden Women s Institute was attended by 3D members with Mrs Hood presiding. Information re the residential school for the homemaker was received. also advice on the group listening scheme. Arrangements were made for the institute’s birthday party to be held on June 14, the committee to be responsible for the programme. Mrs Kellock reported on the annual meeting at Seftoi., A question-box with requests from members on various emergencies in the home tfas ably handled by Dr. Meikleham. The results of the competitions were as follows:—autumn arrangement: Mrs Kellock 1, Mrs Sbott 2, Mrs Yorston 3. Carrots: Mrs Garden 1, Mrs Grimwood 2, Mrs Lang 3. Soup: Mrs Grimwood 1, Mrs Lang 2, Mrs Green 3. Oven
cloth: Mrs Grimwood 1, Mrs Lang 2, Mrs Gilmore 3. Large bloom: Mrs Kellock 1, Mrs Waldron 2, Mrs Garden 3. Small bloom: Mrs Kellock 1, Mrs Avery 2, Mrs Scott and Mrs Grimwood (equal) 3. Spike: Mrs Garden 1, Mrs Scott 2, Mrs Kellock 3. Cluster: Mrs Scott 1, Mrs Avery 2, Mrs Grimwood 3.
