HOSPITAL LEVY LOWER
£12,712 REQUIRED FROM CITY COUNCIL
Christchurch city will have to find £42,712 Is 5d of the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s levy this year, compared with £62,167 18s 4d last year. The levy is in the form of a rate of 2/12d in the £ of capital value, and over the board’s whole district will yield £91,828. The balance of the board’s expenditure—£9BB,oB4—will be met by Government subsidy. The Hospitals Amendment Act, 1951, provides for annual reductions in the hospital rate, so that it will be abolished in 1957.
