FALSE RETURNS OF INCOME
FINES OF £4lO IMPOSED (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS, June 7. On six charges of wilfully making false returns of income, involving a shortage of more than £9OOO, Mate Druzianic, a farmer and contractor, of Emerald Hill, Havelock North, was fined £4lO, with costs of £3tf 6s, in the Hastings Magistrate’s Court today. Druzianic pleaded guilty. Mr W. A. Harlow, S.M., said that there was a systematic evasion by Druzianic, and he had previously been warned.
Mr A. O. Woodhouse, who prosecuted for the Department of Inland Revenue, said that the deficiency for the six years was £9160, in a total income now assessed at £19.482.
