VACCINE PASSES NEW TESTS
(Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 6. The United States Surgeon General, Dr. Leonard Scheele, announced tonight that about 1,000,000 doses of Salk anti-poliomyelitis vaccine had been cleared for immediate use in the nation-wide inoculation programme. Dr. Scheele said the vaccine, all of which had been produced by the Eli Lilly company, had met the stiff new safety tests recently ordered by the United States Government.
