NATIONALISTS AND SOCIAL CREDITERS
Sir,—The verbal flappings of Mr J. B Jenkins chairman of the CanterburyWestland Division of the National Party, m his condemnation of Social Credit, were typical of the dirty digs of present political parties. It may be of some consolation to the several thousand Social Credit voters in Christchurch to know that Mr Jenkins declined my challenge to substantiate his statements on a public platform in open debate. If religion in politics is ® to’to to m w y 1 as , k „ wh y Prayers are said m the House of Representatives 7 Yours, etc., ... _ .. GEO. M. EDMONDS, Vice-President, N.Z.S.C.P.L. (Canty. Branch). June 3, 1955.
Sir,—ln "The Press” of Friday Citizen” indicates that he has swallowed the Labour bait of connecting Social Creditors with National supporters. We Social Crediters are just as much against National’s obsolete methods of finance as w r e are against Labour’s; and they both lowered the pound’s purchasing power by a third. Both Labour and National are in the same old, leaky financial boat, which is slowly sinking with the weight of increasing prices and taxes. If either party had a glimmering of financial knowledge it would do as Miss Howard suggested, and use Social Credit to further their own ideologies; instead, they are rocking the old craft with their sham-fights, and it will not be long before it sinks and the new up-to-date ship of Social Credit will take over and give the people low prices and low taxes, thus bringing back the value of the pound without interfering with business.—Yours, etc., r , F - w - STEVENS.
