SURVIVING ROUTE OF POWER LINE TO NELSON.—A survey party from the State Hydro-electric Department working at Jack’s Pass, near Haunter Springs, on the route of the 220,000 volt transmission line which will carry Roxburgh power to Nelson. A road to be formed by the department will pass just below where the men are standing, and the transmision line will be further down the slope. The maximum grade proposed for the road is one in nine. This view is looking south towards Christchurch.
