McFetridge, Otaki, plan to leave for Australia in the Wanganella on June 2 with Mighty, Iridium, and Pharoah’s Castle. Their destination is Brisbane, where the horses are engaged at the Doomben meeting. It was intended to include the Douro Handicap winner. In three seasons racing she won seven races and with place money on 10 occasions, £4355 in stakes. Sublime won once as a two-year-old, at Masterton, beating Idaho. Her best season was as a three-year-old, when she won six races, five of them in succession. These wins were hack races at Otaki (2), at Auckland (2), the New Zealand Oaks, and the Eulogy Stakes at Awapuni. She also finished second to Surprise Ending in the Great Northern Oaks. Sublime failed to win this season, but she was placed six times, including second in the Hastings Gold Cup and third in the Ashhurst Cup. After being galloped on in several of her races, she became field shy, so her owner, Mr G. S. Walton, decided to retire her. Mr Walton has also retired the Balloch mare, Qualify, and she will be mated with Golden Souvenir.
