CLASH ON EGYPT BORDER
(Rec. 10 p.m.) TEL AVIV, May 21. Artillery and mortar batteries went into action again today across the borders of the Egyptian-held Gaza Strip, where Egyptian and Israeli troops renewed hostilities earlier this week. According to an Israeli Army spokesman, an Israeli border patrol came under machine-gun fire and mortar shelling from an Egyptian position across the lines while it was reconnoitring in the Kissoufim area facing the southern part of the strip. “The patrol returned the mortar fire and Israeli gun batteries joined in and silenced the Egyptian post,” the spokesman said.
