Situation.—A depression covering New Zealand is moving south-east. Forecast:— West Coast.—Fresh to strong winds, northerly in the north, . and turning west to south-west south of Hokitika; more rain, occasionally heavy; temperatures told; outlook, showery and , cold. Nelson and Marlborough.—Strong north-west winds; occasional rain at first, and a period of rain later in the day; temperatures cool; outlook, fair. Canterbury. Strong north-west winds; heavy rain over the ranges, and occasional light rain elsewhere, but a period of general and heavier rain during the afternoon; temperatures cool; outlook, fair. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was cloudy, with a moderate 'north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 63.2 degrees. At midnight, the sky was almost ciear. and a light north-east wind was blowing. The temperature was 50.1 degrees. The barometer, at 29.44 inches (996.9 millibars), was falling slowly.
