GENERAL AND WATER-RACE RATES INCREASED An increase in general and waterrace rates for the financial year ending March 31, 1956, were decided on at the monthly meeting of the Oxford County Council. The general rate was being increased by l-12d to meet the council’s share of extra main highway works which it is proposed to carry out during the year, and the building of the new council chambers. The Eyre water rate was fixed at Is 6d an acre, with a minimum of £l, representing an increase of 50 per cent, over the old rate. This is to meet mechanical cleaning charges. The Coopers and Gammans creeks water rate will be £2 10s flat rate, plus Is an acre.
