CHARGE OF FALSE PRETENCES
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 19. After being arrested at Hawea Flat, near Wanaka, yesterday, on a charge of false pretences, Harvey Eric Allwood, aged 34, a farm labourer, appeared later at a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Cromwell, and was remanded to appear at Dunedir on Thursday. The charge was that on March 26, a Springston. Canterbury, with intent tc defraud. Allwood obtained from Georg, Arthur Wright £9 19s 6d by means o: false pretences. Detective-Sergeant J. A. Marshall of Dunedin, who applied for the re mand, said that further charges o false pretences were pending.
