MOVE TO EXTEND SHOP HOURS
Hearing Of Objections To Bill HOUSE COMMITTEE TO SIT NEXT MONTH (New Zealand Press Association} WELLINGTON, May 19. Full opportunity will be given to tobacconists, and all other interested parties, to present their case to the Labour Bills Committee of the House of Representatives when it is considering the Shops and Offices Amendment Bill next month. This was said today by the office of the Minister of Labour (Mr W. Sullivan) in comment on the objection to the bill made last night by the Wellington Provincial Hairdressers’ and Tobacconists’ Association. ■Hie committee will hold its first sitting to consider the bill on June 1, and will visit on Wednesdays, Thursdays. and Fridays so long as is necessary to hear all submissions. No decision has yet been made whether th? hearings will be open to the press, which the House of Representatives left to the committee to decide.
