CATHEDRAL CHOIR
CONCERTS IN NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH
The Christchurch Cathedral choir of 21 boys and 13 men under the conductor and organist (Mr C. Foster Browne) will visit Blenheim and Nelson next week to give several concerts. It will be accompanied by the Dean (the Very Rev. Martin Sullivan) and Mrs Sullivan, Mr L. S. Hart, headmaster of the Cathedral Grammar School, and Mrs Hart, and Canon W A Orange Precentor of the Cathedral. The boys of the choir will travel to Blenheim on Monday and the men on Tuesday. The choir wil give a concert in His Majesty’s Theatre, Blenheim, on Tuesday evening and another in the Nelson School of Music on Wednesday evening. In addition it will sing Evensong in the Nelson Cathedral on Thursday evening and give three school concerts—at Marlborough College, Nelson College and Nelson Girls’ College. The programmes contain a survey of church music from early times to the present as well as a large number of secular works.
Last year the choir went to Dunedin where it gave a recital to the University of Otago.
