FROM LIBERALS TO LABOUR
Lady Megan Lloyd George Defects - . , LONDON. April 26. Lady Megan Lloyd George, daughter S avld Lloyd George, Britain’s World War I Liberal Prime Minister, today announced that she has joined the Labour Party. She was a Liberal M.P. from 1929 to 1950. in a letter to Mr Clement Attlee, the Labour leader, she says that she has taken the action because “it is only in the Labour Party that I can be true to the Radical tradition.” Aged 52, she resigned from the Liberal Party in 1952, after losingher Parliamentary seat, Anglesey. Wales, in 1950 to a Socialist. In her letter, Lady Megan Lloyd George says: “The official Liberal Party of 1955 seems to me to have lost ail touch with the Radical tradition which inspired it There is little trace of the dynamic philosophy and principles of the Liberal policies of pcst-war years.”
