DANISH ISLAND DISPUTE
“Peace Talks” With Villagers (Rec. 8 p.m.) THORSHAVEN (Faroe Island), April 28. Peace talks are taking place today to end the dispute between the villagers of Klaksvik and the Thorshaven authorities over the dismissal of the local doctor. The Village Council offered to-nego-tiate as a ship with 130 Danish riot police rode at anchor a few miles away. It had been feared that there would be bloodshed If they tried to land and enforce the dismissal of Dr. Olaf Halvorsen.
Dr. Halvorsen was dismissed after differences with the Danish Medical Association, but he refused to leave, and the people of Klaksvik drove away a new doctor sent to replace him.
