LIBERATION DAY IN ITALY
NEO-FASCISTS IN ROME CLASH
(Rec. 8 p.m.) ROME, April 25. Italian police detained about 100 persons for questioning after Neo-Fascists and sympathisers of other political parties clashed in the Piazza Venezia in the centre of Rome on Liberation Day, today. Jeep loads of steel-helmeted riot police broke up the fighting groups. Ten persons suffered bruises. Flags flew throughout Italy as the tenth anniversary of the country’s liberation from Fascism and the Nazi occupation was celebrated with solemn church services, rallies, and military parades. The clash in Rome occurred when the Neo-Fascists placed a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Piazza Venezia.
