OBSERVANCE IN AUSTRALIA

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 25. Anzac Day was observed in traditional fashion in all Australian cities, towns and villages today. Dawn services were held in most places. In Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne, and Sydney there was some rain, but this did not prevent large gatherings at the services. In Melbourne lightning flashed across the skies during the service. In Brisbane, the service was held in perfect autumn weather, and a bright morning in Perth saw 8000 persons gather for the service in King’s Park. Canberra had an overcast but fine morning. Later in the morning parades of veterans of both world wars and the Korean campaign were held, but in the larger cities the route of the march was shortened because of the age of the Gallipoli veterans. In the capital cities, groups of New Zealand returned servicemen, who had come specially for the occasion, were given a promment place in the processions. The afternoon was given over in typical style to celebrations. Hotels opened at noon, and regimental reunions were held in many of the cities.
