British Trade With Canada
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, April 23. Fifty Canadian businessmen have placed orders worth 20,000,000 dollars during their short visit to Britain. “The figure may well be doubled during the coming year as a result of the contacts we have established,” said Mr Howard Walters, leader of the mission, before the mission left today.
The consumer goods ordered range from textiles to crockery, confectionery and biscuits. The capital goods consist mainly of machinery and electrical equipment.
U.S. Loan for Spain.— The Spanish Cabinet has authorised the Government to conclude an agreement with the United States Export-Import Bank for two loans of 20,000,000 and 10,500,000 dollars. It is believed that the loans are aimed at obtaining equipment for the industrialisation programme.— Madrid, April 24.
