Chair Established At Sydney University N.Z. STUDENTS EXPECTED TO ATTEND
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) CANBERRA, April 23. New Zealanders will soon be able to study the science of road-building at the University of Technology in Sydney.
The Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) announced that a chair of traffic engineering will be established at the university shortly. The chair has been endowed by the Australian Automobile Association, which has made available £25,000 to be spent in five years.
Mr Menzies said the chair would be the first of its kind in Australia and would fill a long-felt need for special training. He appealed to other in? terested associations to give the chair some financial aid.
Traffic engineering is the science of building roads for specinc traffic conditions. A post-graduate course of study, probably of one year’s duration, will be given, and it is expected that students will come from New Zealand as well as Australia.
