NORTH CANTERBURY FEDERATION
The annual meeting of the North Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes was held at Sefton recently. Mrs B. L. Blunden (Waikari) presided. Mrs Mitchell, president of the Sefton Country Women’s Institute, wel- 1 corned the executive committee and visitors. She presented sprays to the guests of honour. t Mrs Blunden welcomed Mrs Watson, of Merivale, Southland, who was the guest speaker. Mrs Watson gave an account of her eight months’ visit to institutes in Britain as a guest of the Imperial Trust.

Mrs McLeod (Loburn) gave an interesting report on the Dominion council meeting recently, held at Napier. Long service badges were presented to Mesdames McGucken and Ferguson, of Waipara, and Mrs Dermott (Sefton-Kowai).
Good service badges were presented to Mrs E. Fitzgerald (Kaiapoi), Mrs P. Pearce (Kaiapoi), Mrs J. J. Earle (Masons Flat), and Mrs A. McNally (Sefton-Kowai).
Mrs Blunden, the retiring president, was presented with a doulton vase, in appreciation of her services. The sum of £ll 5s 3d was raised at the sales table. A short programme was given by Mesdames Bryant, Lane and Topp. The following officers were elected: president, Mrs F. Clement (Kaiapoi); vice-presidents, Mesdames Lang (Rangiora) and Fitzsimmons (Domett); secretary. Miss O. G. Murgatroyd (Culverden); minute secretary, Mrs H. Giles (Pines Beach); treasurer, Mrs Scott (Hawarden); executive committee, Mesdames Cross, Fitzgerald, Duckmantbn, and Crossan.
