ANNUITY “SUBJECT TO APPROVAL”
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 2». “The terms of Mr E. H. Compton’s retirement are those which I am proposing to invite Parliament to endorse,’’ said the Prime' Minister (Mr Holland) when the statement by the Public Service Association was referred to him tonight. “Everything is subject to the approval of Parliament, and I shall reserve all I have to say till I speak in the House of Representatives,” said Mr Holland.
GREYMOUTH PROTEST RAILWAY TRADESMEN’S RESOLUTION (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, April 22. A meeting of the Greymouth branch of the Railway Tradesmen’s Association decided to protest at the action of the Government in the payment of compensation and superannuation to the: recently retired Commissioner of Police, Mr E. H. Compton. The association also agreed to ask the Government if the same terms would apply to every civil servant who contnbuted to the superannuation fund.
