RIVERTON CUP WINNER

PROPOSED CAMPAIGN IN NORTH ISLAND "The Press” Special Service 9 DUNEDIN, April 22. The Invercargill trainer, D. V. Pankhurst, is contemplating a northern campaign for the Riverton Cup winner. Cheerio, Riverstone, which was runnerup to Sentinel in the Great Western Steeplechase, and Super Loch. The trio has been nominated for the Waikato Racing Club’s three-day meeting on May 7, 14, and 21. If the journey eventuates, they win probably race at the Auckland meeting also, which begins on June 4. Cheerio has been entered for the open handicaps—which vfill be run over a distance of one mile and three furlongs and will carry £lOOO in stakes—for each day of the Waikato meeting. Riverstcme’s mission would be the Waikato Steeplechase, of £BOOO, to be run over three miles on the second day, and the steeplechase events of two miles and a half, each of which carries a stake of £lOOO on the other days. Super Loch, whose most recent success was In the Parkside Handicap on the first day of the Oamaru meeting last month, has been nominated for hack events. Export and Kitchy Koo were omitted from H. A. Anderton’s team which left for Wairio today. Export will miss his engagement in the Bates Handicap on account of the difficulty of obtaining a suitable rider at the weight. Kitchy Koo, a candidate for the novice event, has not trained on to the satisfaction of his trainer, ahd the Master Hotspur gelding will be given a course of hacking for some time. OWNER’S APPEAL DISMISSED

TAURANGA PLACINGS UPHELD (New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, April 22. The Waikato District Committee yesterday dismissed an appeal by Mr J. Priscott, owner of Isle of Capri, against the decision of the Bay of Plenty Racing Club’s judicial committee in reversing the placings in the Jack Tanner Memorial Handicap at Tauranga. The owner and trainer of Isle of Capri did not attend the hearing before the judicial committee of the club because o£ a misunderstanding, and the district committee therefore conducted the case by way of a rehearing. The finding of the committee was that Isle of Capri interfered with the chances of Paper King, which was second past the post, but was subsequently promoted to first.

A grey colt by Pherozshah (imp.), the New Zealand horse has not raced since last November.
