FEDERATED FARMERS
BANKS PENINSULA BRANCH MEETING Between 70 and 80 farmers from all parts of the district attended the annual meeting and field day of the Banks Peninsula branch of Federated Farnjers, which was held recently on Mr A. E. B. Goodwin’s property at Pigeon Bay. During the day talks were given by Mr J. C. Callaway, of the Ministry of Works (explosives on the farm), Mr M. G. Holland, of the Canterbury Agricultural College (dairy production), Dr. J. W. MfcLean and Mr A. Adams, of Canterbury Agricultural College (pastures), and Mr Raymond Oakley, Mayfield (Romney sheep). The president (Mr R. W. Armstrong) said that he thought that the spread of aerial topdressing and other techniques had halted the decline in production on Banks Peninsula country, and that a prosperous future seemed assured.
The following officers were elected: president, .Mr R. W. -Armstrong; vicepresidents, Messrs lan Menzies and G. E. Hueston; secretary-treasurer, Mr Michael Kay; provincial conference delegates, Messrs .R. W. Armstrong, lan Menzies, and G. E. Hueston; meat and wool section delegates, Messrs J. M. Hennessy and T. B. Morten; dairy section, Messrs F. G. Harris and S. J. McP. Stewart; agriculture section, Mr L. K. Muirson; executive, Messrs A. M. Helps, A. F. Helps, A. P. Cusdin. D. W. Macphail, C. W. Innes, A. T. M. Thacker, and J. Acton-Adami.
