Mrs L. F. Parker, “Glenveigh,” North New Brighton, has returned by air from a visit to Sydney and Brisbane. In Sydney Mrs Parker was the guest of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs R. Parker.

Miss M. B. Rolls has been appointed to take charge of the library at the Papanui High School. Mrs Eugene O’Reilly, Karori, Wellington, is visitnig her aunt, Mrs H. A. Young, Cashmere road.

Mrs Christmas Harvey (Beckenham) will leave this month for a trip to England.

Many members from the country attended a morning tea party held yesterday at the National Club rooms by the St. Margaret’s College Old Girls’ Association, where the president (Mrs W. L. Partridge) welcomed about 60 guests. A very enjoyable informal talk on social life in the Gold Coast. West Africa, was given by Mrs John Matson, an old girl of the college, who has been overseas for several years. Officers of the association present at the party with Mrs Partridge were Miss M. Best (vice-president), Mrs E. A. Guillermo (honorary secretary). Mrs C. L. Sturge (honorary treasurer), Mesdames J. B. Williams, E. Taylor, H. Wauchop, J. B. Jameson, H. Deans, Misses Marlene Bell and Ngaire Scott (members of the committee).

The monthly morning tea party, held by the Victoria League in Beath’s grey room was one of outstanding interest as the speaker was Mr E. P. Sanders, a professional engineer and graduate of Canterbury University College, who last year spent about nine months in Saudi Arabia under the United Nations Technical Assistance Administration. He gave an interesting talk on some aspects of life in a country of which his listeners previously knew little. The president (Mrs J. Mowbray Tripp) welcomed visitors and members of whom there was a large gathering present, and Mr J. Wyn Irwin thanked Mr Sanders.
