BROTHERS OF ST. JOHN OF GOD
WELCOME EXTENDED BY CATHOLIC MEN’S CLUB
The Catholic Men’s Luncheon Club yesterday extended a welcome to Brother Killian, Provincial General of the Hospitallers of St. John of God, and three nursing brothers, who arrived in Christchurch on Tuesday to found a hospital for retarded children at Marylands, Middleton. Speaking at the function, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev E. M. Joyce) said the arrival of the brothers marked the beginning of a new era in the diocese. He was sure the order would do tremendous work in New Zealand for retarded children. After acknowledging the welcome, Brother Killian reviewed the work the order had done, and spoke briefly about what it had achieved recently in Australia, and hoped to do in New Zealand. .
