LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
TRANSPORT AND DRAINAGE CITIZENS’ ASSOCIATION NOMINEES All nine members of the Christchurch Transport 'Board are members of the Christchurch Citizens’ Association, and all have been renominated by the association as candidates for the board’s election to bp held on May 21. They are:—Central, Messrs R. G. Brown, W. S. Mac Gibbon, C. C. Holland, T. M. Charters, F. C. Penfold, and G. D. Griffiths; Avon, Mr J. R. Smith; Riccarton, Mr E. J. Bradshaw; Heathcote. Mr A. J. Woodward. Citizens’ Association candidates hold all but two of the seats on the present Drainage Board, the election for which wiH also be held on May 21. This year a new ward, Waimairi, has beep added, making 14 seats. Nominations approved b$ r the association are as follows:—North-west, Mr C. S. Luney; north-east, Mr H. P. Smith; south-west, Mr E. H. S. Hamilton; south-east, Mr G. A. G. Connal, transferred from Linwood; Linwood, Mr D. A. Doyle; Heathcote, Mr K. A. White; Sydenham. Mr L. T. Loversidge: Avon, Mr F.j R. Price; Riccarton, Mr F. M. Brbwnie, transferred from Heathcote; Waimairi, Mr W. P. Glue; St. Albans. Mr A. J. McTainsh; Sumner, Mr R. C. Neville; Spreydon, Mr W. B. Gray. A nomination for Woolston, which is held by a Labour Party member, had not been decided yesterday. The other Labour-held ward is Sydenham. The only Citizens’ Association member not seeking re-election is Mr ,O. F. Baker. Linwood, who has retired. Nominations for the Drainage Board will close at noon today, and for the Transport Board on April 29.
