Filins of Antarctica.—A series of films of Antarctica and the whaling industry were shoxyn at a meeting of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Antarctica Society; A lecture on expeditions to the South Pole and the establishment of bases was given by the chairman (Mr H. F. Griffiths). Mr Griffiths advised any young men desirous of taking part in an expedition to the Antarctic to specialise in field survey work, as this was essential in the planning of any base on -the Antarctic Continent.
