STAFF COURSES AT WAIOURU
UNITED STATES ARMY OFFICER * • “The Press’* Special Service * WELLINGTON, April 20. A United States Army officer will attend the staff course at the New Zealand Army Schools, which will begin on June 2, at Waiouru. Thjs was announced by Colonel Julian C. Hearne, military attache at the United States Embassy. Although this will be the first time that an American officer has attended a New Zealand Service school, Colonel Hearne said the visit had nothing to dp with the Manila Pact, or with the current international situation. Arrangements had been made for the visit months ago by the respective Governments.
Major William E. Burr, executive officer of the Ist Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment of the 25th Infantry Division, stationed in Hawaii, has been selected for the assignment, and will arrive in Wellington by air from Honolulu on May 30. while in Wellington he will be briefed by Colonel Hearne before v reporting at Waiouru.
