Situation.—A trough of low pressure over the central districts is moving north-eastwards. Forecast:— West Coast.—Some rain at first, persisting in Buller during the morning, but weather becoming fair in most places during the morning; moderate south-west winds and cooler temperatures. Outlook: fair. Nelson and Marlborough (apart from the Kaikoura Coast).—Some rain at first; moderate westerly winds and fair weather in the afternoon; moderate temperatures. Outlook: fair. Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury.— Fair weather, with moderate westerly winds prevailing in inland Canterbury, but moderate to fresh southwest winds and colder showery weather developing in coastal Canterbury and on the Kaikoura coast during the afternoon or evening. Outlook: fair. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was tioudy, with a moderate to fresh northeast wind and a maximum temperature Of 58.2 degrees. At midnight, the sky was almost overcast, and a light east-north-east wind was blowing. The temperature was rs.S degrees. The barometer, at 29.86 inches (1911.1 millibars), was falling steadily.
