TRAP SHOOTING
ELLESMERE GUN CLUB’S SEASON OPENS A strong north-east wind, which frequently affected the flight of the clay targets, prevailed when the Ellesmere Gun Club held the opening shoot of its 1955 season at Leeston. In a five-bird eye-opener, L. C. Lemon. G. M. Doyle, and C. Roberts divided tne stake with all-on. The principal event was a 20-bird match for first and second trophies given by the president, Mr J. F. Parkin. The highest scorers were C. C. Skinner. L. C. Lemon, G. M. Doyle, and E. S. McGill, each with 18 breaks. They shot off for the trophies, Lemon taking the first and Doyle the second, at the seventh round. Skinner and McGill shared first and sec* ond money in the sweep, while J. F. Parkin. I. Winchester, C. Roberts, A. A. Greenwood, and W. L. Gabble, with 17 on, divided third, fourth and fifth prizes. No possibles were scored in a 15-bird sweep, R. G. Allan, E. G. Amyes, A. A. Greenwood and W. B- Gabble, each one down, divided the money. The referees were Messrs R. G. Allan and E. G. Amyes.
