GENERATORS FOR ROXBURGH
Effect Of Damage In Ship Fire NO DELAY~EXPECTED IN OPERATION (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, April 19. The date of operation of the Roxburgh hydro-electric project will not be affected by damage to equipment that was in the hol/1 of the Hororata, in which fire broke out in Wellington recently. This was stated by a spokesman for the State Hydro-electric Department today. One of the generators for Roxburgh was in a hold of the Hororata that was flooded to extinguish the fire.
It is probable that coils will have to be rewound and other damage repaired. It is hoped that the work can be done in New Zealand, but the department is still awaiting final word from the manufacturers in England. However, as parts are interchangeable there will be no delay in the operation of Roxburgh. No. 2 machine can be placed on-the foundations for No. 1 machine—the one that was damaged. No. 3 machine can then be put on the foundations of No. 2, and when No. 1 machine is repaired it can be placed on the foundations for No. 3.
