WORLD WHEAT SUPPLIES
CANADA URGES CONFERENCE
WINNIPEG, April 18. An immediate conference of grain exporting and importing countries, to discuss renewal of the International Wheat Agreement and the possibility of setting up a World Grain Bank to make surplus bread grains available to under-developed countries, was urged today bv the Canadian Inter-Provincial Farm Union Council.
The suggestions were included in a submission to the Canadian Wheat Board by a farm delegation. The council, which represents farm unions in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and the Peace river district of British Columbia, urged the Wheat Board to take the initiative in negotiations for a new International Wheat Agreement. The present pact ends on July 3L 1950.
