ASIAN TALKS ON FORMOSA
Settlement Sought At Bandung
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11 p.m.) BANDUNG, April 19. The Premier of Communist China, Mr Chou En-lai, has agreed to meet representatives of seven other Asian nations in an effort to find a peace formula for Formosa.
Ceylon invited Communist China, the Philippines and Siam to discuss Formosa with the five Colombo Powers Burma, Ceylon, India, Indonesia and Pakistan.
The meeting is likely to be held as soon as the representatives can break away from their routine work at the AfricanAsian conference.
Mr Chou, during his first two days in Bandung, has given no public indication of what his attitude would be at any private talks he may have with other interested Powers on the Formosa issue. He had a long meeting with the Indian Prime Minister (Mr Nehru) shortly after his arrival.
