OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, April 18. The weather forecast, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Situation.—A weak frontal zone lies across the Auckland Province, and a cold front is moving on to the South Island from the west. Forecast:— Canterbury and Kaikoura Coast.— Moderate to fresh northerly winds and fair weather for most of the day, but fresh south-westerlies, with cloudy skies, colder temperatures, and showers developing In the evening. Outlook: fair. West Coast.—Fresh northerlies at first, moderate westerlies later; rain in the south, spreading north during the day; moderate temperatures. Outlook: showers. Marlborough (apart from Kaikoura eoast) and Nelson.—Fresh northerly winds; fair most of the day, but rain at night; moderate temperatures. Outlook: fair. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, with a light north-east wind and a maximum temperature of 65 degrees. At midnight the sky was overcast, and there was a light east-north-east wind. The temperature was 51.8 degrees. The barometer, at 30.3 tn (1026 millibars), was steady.
