APPOINTMENTS TO SENIOR POSTS

ASSISTANT HEAD TO BE MR C. E. ALECOCK

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April It Senior engineering appointments in the Ministry of Works, which .have been approved by the Public Servim Commission, were announced' tonight by the Minister of Works (Mr W. K Goosman). The appointments have been matte to fill vacancies as a result of the retirement of the former Commissioner of Works (Mr E. X McKillop) and a number of oflter senior officials. Additional appoint* ments are still under consideration. Those that have been made are to follows: — Mr C. E. K. Alecock, inspeetjqg engineer, head office, appointed Atostant Commissioner of Works, heM office. Mr H. L. Hume, inspecting engnqur, head office, to be assistant chief, head office. Nir E. C. Smart, District Commissioner of Works, Dunedin, to be Inspecting engineer (investigation©, head office. ■

Mr L. C. Hardie, staff engine*, head office, to be inspecting engineer (staff), head office. Mr I. W. McKinnon, assistant dietnct engineer, Auckland, to be inspecting engineer (works), head office. Mr F. D. Grant, assistant district engineer, Christchurch, to be District Commissioner of Works, Dunedin. • Mr S. M. Rapson, resident rnginaß, Nelson, to be assistant district engineer, Auckland. Mr H. E. Barber, project Mangakino, to be chief construction engineer, head office. Mr R. A. Simpson, designing engineer, and Mr C. M. Wheeler, programming engineer, to be investigating engineers, head bffice. Mr B. W. Spooner, designing engineer (hydro), to be chief designing engineer (works), head office. q Mr J. W. Ridley, assistant designing engineer (hydro), who is atjm* sent in the United States on a Commonwealth Fund scholarship, to be designing engineer (hydro), heto office. Mr Ridley will return to New Zealand in a few weeks. Mr H. A. Fullarton, assistant dte* trict engineer, Dunedin, to be phd« ning engineer, head office. This is a new position occasioned by the requirements of the new planning legislation. . ■
