PICTURE OF FALLS IN SAMOA
REPLY TO COMPLAINT (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 14. A claim that a photograph of all that could be found by Mr J. Thornton of Aleisa Falls, Western Samoa, was not of the falls is made by Mr Aukilani Tupu, of Tamaki. "The photograph he took Is the little pool where the children used to play boats and catch shrimps for their little puppies,” he said today. Mr Thornton took the photograph when in search of the falls as shown in magnificent panorama on a Western Samoa stamp. Mr Tupu said that the waterfall was further inland.
“The Government of Western Samoa does'not authorise any untrue scenes to be printed on its postage stamps,” he says. “The mighty cataract of Aleisa was there, and it Is still there.”
