DANCING AND PIPING COMPETITIONS
(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, April 12. The piping and dancing section of the Mackenzie County Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show on Monday attracted a large number of entrants. The medal presented by Mr D. Ross for the best Highland dancer living in the Mackenzie County was won by Bruce Richardson, a six-year-old lad from Cave. Results were:— Dancing Highland Fling.—Under 12: Neil Waters, 69 points, 1; Diane Ward, 68, 2; Fay Laredo, 67, 3. Under eight: Lesley Smith, 72, 1; Maureen Patterson, ,71, 2; Sheryl Jones, 70, 3. Under 10: Lorraine McEvedy, 72, 1; Mary Shearer, 71, 2; Lesley Smith, 70, 3. Sword Dance.—Under 12: Barbara Jones, 72 points, 1; Barbara Patterson, 71, 2; Lorraine McEvedy. 69, 3. Irish Jig.—Under 12: Lorraine McEvedy, 79 points, 1; Barbara Patterson, 78, 2; Barbara Jones, 75. 3? Dress Parade.-—Dawn Wood. Seann Triubhais.—Open: Janice Lochhead, 82 points, 1; Helen Hughes, 81, 2; June Campbell, 80, 3. Under 14 (South Canterbury championship): June Campbell (Timaru), 83, 1; Dawn Wood (Seadown), 80, 2; Patience McEvedy (Studholme). 78, 3.
