BLOOD PLASMA FOR RED CROSS
DUTCH SOCIETY GIVES 6000 BOTTLES
Six thousand bottles of dried blood plasma have been placed at the disposal of the League of Red Cross Societies for free distribution to national Red Cross societies in all parts of the world. This was announced recently by Dr. J. J. tran Loghem, director of the blood transfusion service of the Netherlands Red Cross, which is making the gift. Dr. van Loghem said that the purpose of the gift was to aid sister societies in creating new blood transfusion centres and extending present services. When he accepted the gift on behalf of the World Red Cross Federation the secretary-general (Mr Bonabes de Rouge) told Dr. van Loghem that this new form of international assistance would be an important contribution to the further development of Red Cross blood services.
The gift represents the donations of 10,000 volunteer donors.-
