HINDS GYMKHANA 2000 ENJOY VARIED PROGRAMME More than 2000 spectators enjoyed a varied programme of events at the annual sports meeting yesterday in the Hinds

Domain. The day was arranged by the Hinds Gymkhana Committee. Gate takings were £203, compared with £lB7 last year.

. There were about 35 entries in the trotting events. There were hack and pony competitions, and a cycling display was given by members of the Tinwald Cycling Club. The cup for the most points won in the amateur athletic events was awarded to P. Cates (Ashburton). Among other attractions were Highland dancing, a fancy dress competition, calf-riding, chain-stepping, and sheaf-tossing. Dog trials and a display of model aeroplanes were held. Music was provided by the Ashburton Scottish Society’s Pipe Band.
