BRETTON WOODS AGREEMENT
ATTITUDE OF SOCIAL CREDIT LEAGUE
The New Zealand Social Credit Political League is opposed to the signing of the Bretton Woods Agreement by any New Zealand government. The secretary of the league (Mr J. E. Colechin) announced that the league at its Dominion conference had unanimously decided that as the signing of the agreement would hand over to foreign and anti-democratic interests the vital right of the New Zealand people to control their own monetary system and, consequently, their own welfare, it would constitute an act of treachery. Mr Colechin said that the signing of the agreement could therefore not be considered' as binding by any Social Credit government in New Zealand or by any member of Parliament nominated by the New Zealand Social Credit Political League.
