The New Zealand Apple & Pear Marketing Board is showing that the highest quality fruit can be made available at most reasonable prices and a good example is the current release of this season’s Jonathan harvest. Retailers are offering the fancy grade at 25/- a bushel case, containing approximately 40 lb. of apples. This works out at about 7Kd. lb. Other grades and sizes are at correspondingly lower prices. Owing to freight charges, however, prices are a little more in outlying districts.
